Week 2 Picks

Sorry for that bad pick Thursday night, but it happens. So we'll move right along to this weekend's picks. I am in a big Prognosticator Pool where we pick 10 games. I'm going to condense that down each week to my favorite 5 games every week. One is my top game, 5 is my 5th favorite game. Also at the bottom I will give my favorite NFL games. I rarely like more than 2-3 NFL games during the week. Here they are...

1 Miami -7 over Clemson. They dominated FSU two weeks ago, and Clemson won one game on a last second field goal, and the second game were down 10 with 8:30 left only to come back and win. Miami has one of the best defenses in the country, as they showed against FSU allowing only 9 first downs. Miami will be up for this one as they don't want to start 0-2 in the ACC, and should roll.
2 Mississippi St -2 over Tulane. Tulane is playing their first game, MSU their 3rd. Tulane has missed practice time, moved all over the south, and this game is at a neutral site. The teams are fairly close talent wise, but I see MSU winning because of all the factors above.
3 Alabama -1` over South Carolina. As far as talent goes, Alabama is far superior. South Carolina owns the coaching edge. SC comes off a heartbreaking loss at Georgia which was very impressive, while Alabama dominated So Miss in a game that was not as close as the score indicated. In this one Alabama has edges at QB with a very experienced Brady Croyle, a tremendous defense, and should dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides, and I think they win a close one here.
2 Penn St -21` over Central Michigan. Central Michigan has played 2 good games this year, but that simply helps this line. Penn St has one of the best defenses in the game, and have found offensive success early on this season. I see the PSU defense posting a near shutout, so I see PSU rolling in this game.
1 Maryland -3 over West Va. Maryland had no business losing last week to Clemson, giving up 14 in the last 8:30. Maryland's offense has come on very quickly, and the losses by West Va from last season are going to really hurt them in a tough road matchup. Additionally Maryland has West Va's number lately, and I see them winning this one easily.

NFL Games
1 Chiefs -1` over Oakland. The Chiefs dominated the Jets last week, showing that the defense that I predicted would be highly improved is just that. Oakland is a much better offense, but they can't keep up with a Chiefs offense because the Raiders defense is possibly the worst in the NFL. Chiefs roll.
2 Jets -6 over Miami. Great line value in this game with Miami rolling last week and the Jets getting rolled. We're getting 2-4 points here because of those games, and the Jets have a nice defense that will hold Miami in check, and I see them winning by at least 10.

That's it for this week. I gave 7 games here, hopefully I can hit at least 4 of them!
