I'm Back In Omaha

Sorry I haven't posted but I didn't have that much time. I was too busy watching football over the weekend. I guess I left off on my hung over day on Wednesday. That night we ate some dinner and watched TV and movies, a very rare quiet evening.

Thursday - I went downtown to eat and then formulated a plan for the day. I went to Arlington Cemetery which was awesome. If you haven't seen it it is difficult to explain, but it is really cool. After that I stayed on the Virginia side of the river and went to the Teddy Roosevelt Memorial. If you ever go to DC do NOT go there. It basically wasted about 1 1/2 hours of my time. After that I went to the Holocaust Museum which was very cool, but I could only go for about an hour because the museums are only open until 5:30. So I went to the capitol building, walked around it, and then went back to the apartment. That night Justin, Kenz, and I went to dinner at some bar and watched the football game, then went to a bar called the Russia House for more drinks. The bar had a serious Russia Mafia feel to it, and they have about 75 different types of vodka.

Friday - Again I went downtown, this time to a great deli that I found the other day. I knew I wanted to go back to the Holocaust Museum and hit some Smithsonians. I was on my way and decided to go to the capitol again because I hadn't seen it from the east side. There I saw the Library of Congress, which I had heard great things so I went in and checked out the exhibits for about an hour. Too bad I didn't have a few more hours because there was plenty to see. Next I went back to the Holocaust for about 2 hours, but still didn't get to see all I wanted. Then I went to the American History Smithsonian, where I saw Muhammad Ali's gloves, a Bob Couzy jersey, a Stan Musial bat, and Seinfeld's puffy shirt, along with many other great exhibits. Again, out of there at 5:30. I hate that they aren't open later, it's caused me to miss too many great things. That night Robb Nansel came into DC, so we all went out to eat and then to a few bars. The Wrens were playing at a club so Robb hooked us up on the guest list and saw a great show.

Saturday - Finally, a full day of college football! We watched the Irish play then went out to the Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean Memorial, and the FDR Memorial. All of those were great, though I was somewhat preoccupied because the Husker game was about to start. We hopped in a cab and went to a Husker bar that I found online, called the Union Pub. It was full of Husker fans so it was nice cheering for NU in a different state with other Nebraska people. Boy, the offense looks terrible, luckily that defense looks like it is back where it should be. After the game we just went to some other bars, including this bar called Tryst, which we want to come to Omaha. It's basically a coffee shop\bar, where they have a wide variety of coffees and special coffee liquor drinks. In fact we went there Friday and Saturday night.

Sunday - We went to the Redskins-Bears game. It was a defensive battle as the final ended 9-7 in favor of the Redskins. I had only been to Chiefs NFL games, and it was cool seeing a Skins game. After that we went to different bars watching games then went to a nice dinner and then just went home as we were all tired.

That is the end of my trip. It was a blast, but I'm also glad to be home!
