Kickoff is just over 3 hours away and I can't take the wait any more. Here are the keys:
- The coin toss. Yess, coin toss. NU needs to get the ball first, go down field, and score. Any score. Just get the lead right away and go from there. If they don't get the ball first and USC goes right down field and scores, I see a potentially long day.
- Ball protection, attack the ball. USC is positive in turnover margin almost every single game. If the Huskers can finish even or positive, then there is a chance for victory.
- Make a big special teams play. Be it a punt block, punt return TD, anything to swing field position or get cheap points, NU needs it.
- Attack the weak secondary. The USC secondary is their one weakness. They have injuries and a couple freshman starting. We've heard all week how USC has a height advantage at receiver over NU's secondary. Well the Husker receivers have the same advantage, but no one talks about that! If the USC DB's have trouble with Nunn, Swift, Hardy, Purify, and Herian, the running game will open up and NU can score at will.
- With a combination of ALL these factors, NU does have a chance to win tonight, but that chance is very slight. My prediction: USC 34 - Nebraska 24.
